Loan Bells

Conditions applying to Handbells/Chimes which are loaned to members:

For any set of handbells and choir chimes owned by the society and made available for use by member teams, the following rules shall apply.

  1. Sets shall be loaned to individual or group financial members who wish to start a handbell team but have no bells, provided that such a member is an experienced handbell ringer or has attended workshops immediately prior to the loan. For the Malmark Gift set, this condition applies to the middle 3 octaves (C4-C7. For the remaining two octaves of the Malmark Gift set, the bells are to be loaned to active financial member teams currently in possession of three octaves.
  2. The loan period is for the calendar year.
  3. Borrowing teams to demonstrate their acquired expertise either by attending the following annual HSA Festival or submitting a video.
  4. Borrowing team to pay the appropriate proportion of the annual insurance premium – the bells to be kept insured by HSA.
  5. The Executive Committee have sole discretion as to whom the bells shall be lent to, based on the recommendation of the Asset Manager.
  6. The Symposium Belleplate sets shall be lent to individuals or societies for use with persons who have physical and/or intellectual challenge.
